Hi there

Trusted services and a warm welcome when it matters most.
Almost ten years ago, Mick met Orange Sky for the first time.
What he found that day was far more than a simple, practical service. Among the hum of washing machines and the circle of orange chairs were people who looked him in the eye, offered a warm welcome, and truly meant it.
“Everyone sits on a chair, and we have a little chat. And then all of a sudden, you end up with mates.” – Mick
That’s what an Orange Sky shift can become – a place where a simple chat turns into friendship, and where friends can always rely on a warm welcome, no matter the season.
A decade-long friendship
Orange Sky Co-founder, Nic, still remembers those early days of Orange Sky, not knowing if people would trust them enough to keep showing up. But Mick did, and the connection that formed that first visit has grown into a friendship that’s lasted nearly a decade.
“There are quite a few Orange Sky people, like Nic, I’ve known for 10 years now, it’s like family.” – Mick
These days, Mick’s doing well – fishing, renovating his houseboat, getting on with life. But every now and then, he drops by an Orange Sky shift to say hello. Sometimes, Nic’s there too.
Being recognised, having someone remember your name, and knowing there’s a place where you’ll be welcomed without judgement. It’s the kind of warmth you feel from the very start – when a simple chat turns into lasting friendship.
“Orange Sky is always going to be part of my life. They’ve always been there behind me, backing me up. Always there, giving me a hand.” – Mick
In winter, the days are shorter, the air is colder, and those small moments of connection that brighten our day feel fewer and further between. That’s why having somewhere warm, familiar and welcoming matters so much – especially for people doing it tough.
At Orange Sky, that warmth shows up in different ways. Clean, dry clothes. A warm shower. A friendly smile.
But more than anything, it’s the warmth of connection and friendship.
That’s the difference you can make this winter. With your support, we’ll be here – showing up week after week, come rain, hail or shine, with a warm welcome and a place to come back to on someone’s toughest days.
Every week across Australia, Orange Sky services provide:
From one van to a national network, Orange Sky has grown into 59 services across the country, with more than 4,000 volunteers showing up every week.
That consistency – and the trust communities place in Orange Sky – exists because of caring people like you.
As demand for our services continues to grow, keeping vans on the road requires fuel, maintenance, supplies and volunteer support.
And it’s your support that keeps this going.
You are very welcome to make a donation to Orange Sky by direct deposit to our bank account. Please call us on (07) 3067 5800 or email hello@orangesky.org to obtain our BSB and account number. Thank you so much for thinking of us for your kind donation! Unfortunately, due to our current capacity and resources, we are not able to accept, handle, or pass on donations of physical goods to our friends. We recommend getting in touch with another service provider in your area who may be better placed to store, sort and distribute items to people in need. You can also try searching Ask Izzy for local service providers.
