Joey has been sleeping rough in Cairns for the past two years. These days, he’s a familiar face at his local Orange Sky shift, where he catches up with volunteers, shares his artwork and enjoys having someone to talk to.
What started as somewhere to wash his clothes became somewhere he could rely on each week. People remembered his name, asked how his week had been and genuinely cared about the answer.

For CC, one of the hardest parts of experiencing homelessness wasn’t just finding a safe place to sleep, it was feeling disconnected from the world around her.
When she was just 14, CC left home with nowhere to turn. She spent time couch surfing before eventually sleeping under a local bridge.
Today, with a safe place to call home and a family of her own, CC volunteers with Orange Sky, helping create those same moments of kindness and connection for others.
For many people, those conversations become just as valuable as clean clothes and a warm shower.
For some, the conversation is what brings them back week after week.

We will generate a one-time individual reference number for you to use with your deposit so that we can easily identify your donation and forward a receipt.
Orange Sky has the status of a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR), and any gift of money or property to Orange Sky over the value of $2 is tax-deductible in Australia.
All donations help us provide clean clothes, warm showers, and genuine conversation to those doing it tough. While most of our support is managed centrally to maximise efficiency, we can provide information on specific expenses related to the service area you’re interested in to show the impact of your donation.
