At Orange Sky, we often say that while our vans provide laundry and showers, the magic is in the connection. But for that connection to happen, those laundry vans have to be on the road, safe, and ready to serve; laundry pods installed and ready to churn; remote vehicles durable and ready to roll through rough terrain.
This year, we are incredibly proud to announce that Anthony (Asset Operations Specialist and the person behind all of that behind-the-scenes work) has been named Orange Sky Person of the Year! And it’s without a doubt that his dedication keeps Orange Sky moving day in and day out.
Anthony’s story with Orange Sky is a testament to the power of passion and professional evolution. He first walked through our doors as a contractor, helping us navigate the technical complexities of van repairs. It didn’t take long to realise that Anthony wasn’t just tinkering with the machines; he was invested in the mission.
By late 2023, he officially joined the team, and throughout 2024, his impact was felt from the bustling streets of major cities to the most remote corners of Australia and Aotearoa. Whether it was a routine upgrade or an emergency repair, Anthony’s focus remained the same: supporting volunteers so they could continue showing up, connecting and providing essential services without interruption.
One of the most defining moments of Anthony’s year took place in Gapuwiyak, North East Arnhem Land. During a remote maintenance trip, Anthony worked tirelessly to resolve critical issues with a remote vehicle (RV) that plays a vital role in the local community – helping ensure the service could continue showing up for people who rely on it.
“While I was waiting at the air strip to fly out, the local team who operate the truck stopped by to personally thank me for fixing the RV,” Anthony recalls. “This was a great reminder for me on the importance of what we do and the impact it has.”
In May 2025, Anthony stepped into a new leadership role, heading up a team dedicated to growing our fleet. His transition from hands-on fixer to strategic leader has been seamless, fuelled by a culture that encourages every staff member to show up as their authentic self.
The “Person of the Year” award isn’t just about technical skill; it’s about embodiment of our values.
Anthony’s humility, his dedication to his teammates, and his unwavering focus on our friends doing it tough make him the heart of our operations.
