Orange Sky’s Melbourne North West laundry service was launched in February 2019. It was the fifth service to be launched in Victoria, with three laundry vans and one shower van operating around Melbourne, Geelong and the South East
“We’ve been operating in Melbourne for three and a half years and we know that there’s a huge need for our service – not just laundry and showers, but the opportunity for people to sit down and connect. We’re looking forward to expanding our service with more shifts, additional locations and hopefully new friends. We believe that our most valuable contribution in the community will happen on our six orange chairs, where volunteers and friends on the street can sit down for a chat.” - Lucas Patchett, Orange Sky co-founder. The six orange chairs in every Orange Sky van are the most important part of our service. They are used by our volunteers and friends to connect. Each chair represents a key cost specific to the location, and through the support of these chairs, we are able to continue helping our friends.
