Each week, thousands of volunteers across the country gather around a set of washing machines and six orange chairs, to provide a space for people in need to access improved hygiene, health and quality of life.
Beyond measuring the number of laundry loads and warm showers delivered each week, we also measure the positive social impact we provide to people who use our service, and the volunteers who deliver our service.
Our social impact measurements take into account:
In the 2022/23 financial year, we delivered $18.3 million in social impact across Australia and New Zealand. This includes $5.99 million in quality of life for friends, and $4.77 million in quality of life for volunteers.

In 2022 we upgraded our existing fleet of laundry and shower vehicles to significantly reduce our environmental impact. In addition to this, we also were able to maximise service reliability, simplify and reduce the cost of maintenance and improve the overall experience for volunteers and people who use our service. The addition of solar panels and our innovative Waru Dryer means that Orange Sky reduced CO2-e and electrical consumption generated by our shifts.
