Orange Sky Australia is committed to providing access to clean clothes, warm showers and genuine, non-judgemental conversation for all Australians. In remote communities, access to laundry services can be limited and cost prohibitive.
Mornington Island, also known as Kunhanhaa or sometimes referred to as Gununa or Goonana by the Lardil people, is an island in the Gulf of Carpentaria in Far North Queensland. Orange Sky’s Mornington Island service works alongside the community to build impact through free laundry, local employment and local partnerships.
Under our collaborative partnership model, Orange Sky’s Mornington Island service is made possible by our community partner, Mornington Shire Council.
We are grateful to the Traditional Custodians – Lardil people –, Mornington Shire Council, and Mornington Island residents for allowing Orange Sky to provide the community with a safe and respectful place for laundry and connection.
Our Remote Vehicle 3.0 (RV3.0) brings essential laundry services to remote Australian communities. Designed for rugged conditions, it features three washers and Waru Dryers and uses advanced solar technology to cut electrical use by up to 80%, enhancing service reach effectively.
