Orange Sky celebrated the launch of their 27th metro and regional service by introducing a laundy pod to the community of Bendigo in July 2024.
Data from the 2021 Census revealed that homelessness in the Greater Bendigo region has increased by 93.55% since 2016 (ABS, 2021). The increase in homelessness resulted in heightened demand on support services in the region, being one of the key reasons we set our sights on Bendigo, aiming to help support the growing number of locals experiencing hardship.
Usually delivering our services via iconic bright orange mobile vans, the Bendigo community welcomed a different laundry asset type, an original invention by our innovation team – a ‘Laundry Pod’.
By working hand-in-hand with the Salvation Army, where our laundry pod is stationed, and the local Bendigo community, we are excited to launch a new Orange Sky service to support our friends doing it tough in the region.
