Orange Sky Australia is committed to providing access to clean clothes, warm showers and genuine, non-judgemental conversation for all Australians. In remote communities, access to laundry services can be limited and cost prohibitive.
Mount Isa is a city in North West Queensland, known for its mining industry due to vast mineral deposits. Orange Sky supported locals in Mount Isa earlier in 2024, delivering a two-week long public health service in response to increased skin health and wellbeing concerns. The service was well received and utilised by community members, so a permanent service was launched in mid-2024. Orange Sky’s Mount Isa service works alongside the community to build impact through free laundry, local employment and local partnerships.
Under our collaborative partnership model, Orange Sky’s Mount Isa service is made possible by our community partners North West Queensland Indigenous Catholic Social Services. We are grateful to the Traditional Custodians – Kalkadoon people – our community partner, and Mount Isa residents for allowing Orange Sky to provide the community with a safe and respectful place for laundry and connection.
Our Remote Vehicle 3.0 (RV3.0) brings essential laundry services to remote Australian communities. Designed for rugged conditions, it features three washers and Waru Dryers and uses advanced solar technology to cut electrical use by up to 80%, enhancing service reach effectively.
