What you leave behind in this world reflects who you are, what you value, and what you want to continue when you are no longer here.
By choosing to include a gift in your Will to Orange Sky, you’re leaving a legacy that will be reflected in the simple acts that make a remarkable difference to people experiencing homelessness – freshly washed clothes, hot showers, and warm smiles in a space where people are called friends.
Cass never thought she would be homeless
A cancer diagnosis, followed by the loss of her income, meant that Cass was forced to move into her car. For someone like Cass, clean laundry, a warm shower, and companionship make a real difference in her life. “Orange Sky has played a massive part in my ability to upgrade my life by bringing my laundry in while enjoying a chinwag and a bit of stress-free time. They're amazing.” A gift in your Will ensures that Orange Sky will be there in the future to support people like Cass as they work through the challenges of rebuilding their lives.
How clean clothes and a warm smile ease the load for Adam
After being made redundant, Adam was left living in and out of transitional accommodation and even spent some time sleeping on a park bench. Thankfully, he’s now secured a new place to live, but money remains tight. Adam is predominantly wheelchair-bound and comes to our Brunswick shift every Wednesday to get his washing done. “I’ve built up a good friendship with everybody at Orange Sky,” he says. “It’s very welcoming, and I couldn’t speak more highly of them.” A gift in your Will would allow the future expansion of Orange Sky into more communities, easing the load for more people like Adam.
The impact of your legacy will be felt from Perth to Palm Island
Barbra wants her legacy to raise awareness and encourage compassion for friends experiencing hardship and homelessness.
“Having worked for a government agency that supports women, I have seen first-hand the many ways in which women can find themselves in a situation of homelessness.” By leaving a gift in her Will, Barbra is ensuring continued access to warm showers, clean clothes, and friendly conversation for people who experience homelessness and hardship in the future. “I know it will not solve all of their problems, but my hope is that it will provide them with comfort, confidence and strength to face the day.”
Helen and Peter want their legacy to provide basic human rights to people doing it tough.
Through their volunteering work, Helen and Peter have become more aware of the plight of people experiencing homelessness in Australia. They have also seen first-hand how much the offer of a warm shower and clean clothes can mean to someone who is doing it tough. “It’s as fundamental as the right to shelter and food.” By leaving a gift in their Will to Orange Sky, Helen and Peter’s joint legacy will continue to provide support, friendship, and connection to people who too often feel disconnected from the community. “We just want to know that our gift will help people that haven’t been as fortunate as us, and that we will leave the community we live in a better place"
